I’m Joell and I have been married to my high school sweetheart (AKA Hubby or Sweetie) for 30 years. I am a full time wife, mom, and homeschool teacher. We have two amazing now adult kids! It’s so hard to believe! They are both bright and incredibly funny–and provide me with a lot of writing material! <wink> We have moved around quite a bit with my hubby’s work, and currently find ourselves in South Carolina. As we are both native Southerners, we are happy to be here–the land of sweet iced tea, the ocean, and Chick-fil-a!
I love the beach, reading, blogging, and taking care of my family. I am passionate about special needs children. I am a firm believer in approaching life with humor and my faith in God. I have been blogging on and off since late 2006 (and very much off since 2013!) and I like to think of it as my free therapy…so far it seems like it might be working. One can hope!
I have always loved writing, starting with poetry as a teenager, which kinda fizzled after my angsty teen years. Then, I started this blog in 2006 and it was a great way to connect with other writers and express my heart. In early years, I wrote about my family, mothering my young children, and later, my teens, autism, aging, my faith, and lessons I learn, our neighbor’s cat, and our HOA. Generally, whatever hit me when I sat down at the keyboard!
In late 2013, I went off the grid with my writing and started navigating life as I entered the season of my teens moving into adulthood and focusing on supporting them, teaching at a local homeschool co-op, more involvement at our church, and life in my home. I am now considering jumping back in to writing as life is now moving into yet another new season, as life does!
Writing definitely helps me keep my sanity, but I also want to encourage people, make people laugh, and help people see that there are always lessons we can learn from our circumstances–that everyone has a story.
I would love to hear yours.
Welcome! I’m glad you are here!
